Great Faith

Matthew 15:21- 28
21 And Jesus went out thence and withdrew into the parts of Tyre and Sidon. 22 And behold, a Canaanitish woman came out from those borders, and cried, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a demon. 23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us. 24 But he answered and said, I was not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 25 But she came and [i]worshiped him, saying, Lord, help me. 26 And he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s [j]bread and cast it to the dogs. 27 But she said Yea, Lord: for even the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table. 28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it done unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was healed
Jesus reaction to the Canaanite woman:
1. He answered her not a word; Silence treatment.
Sometimes when you are waiting for an answer to your prayers, people may mistake your waiting time as denial. The disciples thought because Jesus answered her not that it was ok for her to be sent away.
@Opened a door for the disciples to request she be sent away.
@ They labeled her a wailer crying after them.
People may even give you a nickname associated with your actions as you continue to persist. I have heard people say that all they know is pray, pray why isn’t God answering. They may think you are crazy, but brethren keep praying. Delay is not Denial!
2. Jesus said he wasn’t sent to help her a gentile but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Jesus made sure that she understood that she was not worthy of his help. Yes, she was a Canaanite a gentile not worthy to be treated with preferential treatments, but she continued, unwavering.
3. He insisted on her status. It is not meet to take the children’s bread and cast it to the dogs.
Why did Jesus compare her with a dog? Because she was a gentile and that’s how the Jews treated Gentiles. Allow me to remind you the foundation of Canaan. In – Genesis 9:20–2720 And Noah began to be an husbandman, and he planted a vineyard:
21 And he drank of the wine and was drunken, and he was uncovered within his tent.
22 And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father and told his two brethren without.
23 And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father, and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father’s nakedness.
24 And Noah awoke from his wine and knew what his younger son had done unto him.
25 And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.
26 And he said, Blessed be the Lord God of Shem, and Canaan shall be his servant.
27 God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem, and Canaan shall be his servant.
Canaan was the son of Ham, and he was cursed due to his father’s behavior. I don’t want to talk more about why this happened, but I just want to put out the curse of Canaan was that he would be A SERVANT OF SERVANT. In my culture, as well as Jewish culture, dogs were treated as servants. They slept outside, were allowed to grab the crumbs that fell from the table while the master is dining.
4., O woman, great is thy faith: be it done unto thee even as thou wilt.
This Canaanite mother persisted and overcame all the obstacles. Her name is not known, but we are aware her faith was great. Jesus declared it, and an instant miracle happened.
Let us learn from this woman her reaction to everything she encountered in pursuit of her daughter’s healing.
The woman reactions that qualified her as having great faith.
• She came out
• She cried out
• She continued crying out for help
• She changed her cry into worship
Take action now because Faith without works is dead. Do you have faith in Jesus cry out for help and don’t stop even if you have been labeled a wailer, Keep going turn your Wailing into worship and see the manifestation of His glorious power18768310_1910543555891580_660291680241027224_o?

It should be encouraging that even the heroes of the faith expressed their own misgivings about their abilities. Moses certainly did, and yet of the billions of people who have walked this earth, God chose Him to spotlight for generations to come. In the Bible, we see time and again how God worked through imperfect vessels to accomplish His great glory. As one book perfectly summed up, God plus nothing still equals everything.

The flip side of that is that because He’s the One doing the work, it’s not something we can take credit for, no matter how tempting it may be to do so. Have you ever seen God move so powerfully when someone sings a particular song or preaches an individual message, and then the person adds that outcome to their resumé? It becomes like a ‘Big Fish’ story, except the fish in this story, is the person. He works through weak vessels to receive His proper glory. So we give it to Him. The assurance from His Word is that He’s going to overshadow our shortcomings and accomplish the outcome He desires if we follow His lead. Weakness only serves to underscore His power. We can rest, knowing that it’s nothing we can conjure up or manipulate. His Spirit will be at work.
You may feel burdened for a ministry that you’re not prepared for. You don’t feel comfortable in that role. Your ability or lack of it is pronounced and very obvious to all around. If so, you’re in good company. God only expects for you to be obedient, regardless of your comfort level. He’s got this. Rest in His power.

Understanding The discipline of seasons.

from the blog
from the blog

Our God is transcended, He is above and beyond His creation He is interested in the interest of his people. Understanding that God is also Immanent, that He is within His creation.Ever present in His creation but He does not micro-manage creation.
Ephesians 2:13 For its God who works in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
@ Will. ..choices—- To help us to be willing. God cannot violate your allow your will to work with his will.
@ Actions..your strengths can only be moved by your Will.
Ecclesiastes 3:1
Everything has it’s proper period and duration that it happens.
@ Time: Is the period something happens.
@ Season: suitable environment within things happen.
14 seasons. ……
The seasons determine the rightness of purpose and actions.
The seasons demand your actions.
Actions become purposeful when they fit into the logic of a season.
Ecclesiastes 3:11
Has made everything beautiful in its times. Timing is in things, not God.
God programmed timing in the things.E.g., seeds when we plant. The beauty of a purpose is only seen in its  maturation.e.g baby
Impatience brings abortion of something. Before the time it’s not beautiful. Patience is required. Just wait. A lot of things will by themselves mature because timing is in things.
The greatest issue is when someone says am waiting for God’s timings. Whatever God intended for me was not altered. Says yes
God’s plans are eternal.I will prosper you. Therefore you kick a process into action, therefore,
Timing doesn’t entirely depend on God. He creates a season, but we must sense the timing. God controls the seasons we control the timing when we allow our Will to connect with the purpose of God.
Be right with the timing it’s related to our actions.
When is the right time?
Haggai 1:4 God plans the seasons but gives us the timing.
Requirements for Determining timing:
1. Conditions that makes it suitable for things to be done.Seasons declare themselves before they happen.
2: Advanced preparation. ..being fully prepared for something. Eventually, an opportunity must meet with preparation. Obama said the timing has come to be president. He was ready. Being right on time it feels good. Getting the timing right feels great.
3: Accessible opportunities. ..doors open.
4: Audacious faith…strong faith Jesus walking on water and Peter seize the moment.stepping out maybe scary.
Indicators of purpose
1.What did God take you out of? …its an indication of what he will use you. Monitor your life what story is.
2.How far have I come with God.are you still a baby are you still a receiver of help or a giver of help.Track your growth
3.what things move me deeply now. Has the music changed then change the dance?
4.What are the current doors that God is opening for me? Doors are for exit and others for entrance. God does not leave open doors only other are shut. More shut doors than open doors.

Food plays a major role in our lives, and our bodies can never have full functionality without it. Food has the temporary ability to reduce stress, anxiety, and sadness by creating happiness that brings comfort. No wonder a bigger percentage of overeating is more connected to emotions than to hunger.
Developing a good healthy relationship with food is essential for living a balanced life, and requires having healthy boundaries in relating to food as a source of nutritional supply and energy instead of interacting with it as a stress reliever or a monster to avoid.
The body is equipped with an internal system that signals when we need to eat and when we need to stop eating.
Using questions for self-evaluation is vital:

  1. Why I am eating?
  2. Is it because I am hungry or bored?
  3. Is it because I feel stressed or sad?

Connection between moods and food
Monitoring our thought system is paramount in reducing emotional/stress related eating triggers. This is an invitation to understand what’s going on in our thoughts, feelings, and behavior.
We are also able to think about food as an important source of nutrition and not an agent of relieving stress or an enemy that we need to fight through denial.
“Many eating problems are not really about food. They are about self-soothing. Self-soothing techniques are methods to calm and relax your body and mind, as well as sooth your nerves.” 50 ways to soothe yourself without food – Susan Albers, Psy.D.
Therefore, identifying and utilizing none food related soothing techniques can be a positive mood booster. Here are some techniques that you might find to be helpful:

  1. Journal your thoughts and feelings.
  2. Engage in physical exercise.
  3. Listen to soothing music.
  4. Engage in meditation.
  5. Talk to someone.
  6. Find humor around you and share a joke.
  7. Read an Interesting book or watch a movie.
  8. Be your own masseuse

The power to keep a balance between food and mood is in your hands. Practice tiny steps daily, and soon you will be able to cope with change and the unexpected.
