The Great Commission

In the year 2009, few months before I received Christ as my saviour, I had a great visitation in form of a dream. This was sixteen years after the other four dreams about end times, which I have addressed in previous articles. When I experienced this dream, I was a high school teacher in a village school.

In the dream, I was standing outside the small gate to the kitchen of that school, but in place of the kitchen was a large church. There were brethren inside the church at the front pews. They seemed to be holding a fellowship as it was on a weekday. Standing in the air outside the church was Jesus, in a jungle green soldier’s uniform. He was very huge. He was looking at the brethren in the church sternly, the way a parent would look at a child who is doing something wrong. I constantly looked at him, then at the brethren who had no idea that Jesus was there. I wondered how Jesus can come, stand there yet those who are supposed to be meeting him have no idea that he had come. I felt within me that something was wrong.

Under normal circumstances, one would appreciate brethren who meet in church for prayers or fellowship. I don’t refute that fellowship is important for it builds believers. Why is then Jesus annoyed with these people? The answer lies in the great commission given to the church by Jesus just before he ascended to heaven. It’s always good, if one is working under some authority, to first understand the mandate one has been given, before embarking on doing it. This is the problem with the present church. It is an indoor church 24/7, yet our master Jesus mandated us to go out into the world and execute his great works; the great commission described in this scripture:

14 Later He appeared to the eleven as they sat at the table; and He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen. 15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

(Mark 16:14 NKJV Bible)

Jesus wants to find us doing the work he called us to do. No believer is called to sit just as a member of the church. As soon as one receives salvation, he or she should sit under a pastor and be instructed on how to do the work of God that they are called to do, and at the same time they should be doing it. There is no time to waste seated. The Holy Spirit gives one simple tasks that they can manage, as they grow in salvation, to later be entrusted with more complex tasks.

45 “Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his master made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season? 46 Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing. 47 Assuredly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all his goods. 48 But if that evil servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming,’ 49 and begins to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards, 50 the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him and at an hour that he is not aware of, 51 and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

(Matthew 24:45-51 NKJV Bible)

The body of Christ in general is supposed to emphasize on outdoor evangelism through crusades, interdenominational seminars, workshop, conferences and even door-to- door evangelism. This will then go a long way to reach out to the unreached. For any church to grow healthy, it is required to feed from other churches through these meetings, because no one single church is gifted with everything. Some are gifted in faith, others holiness, others in the ministry of uplifting of marriages, others deliverance etc. and all these are necessary in every church. That’s why the bible calls it the body of Christ, where one church is an arm, others legs and so on. It is therefore paramount that the servants of God: bishops, pastors and the church administration cease from unhealthy competition with other churches and facilitate their flock to mix. This is emphasized when Jesus prayed for all believers to be united.

20 “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; 21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. 22 And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: 23 I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.

(John 17:20-23 NKJV Bible)

The pastor should also ensure that every one of his or her flock is rightfully positioned and doing God’s work through proper guidance and love. The office of the prophet is very important in this case as the Holy Spirit mostly communicates specifically as to how individuals are called. For example a prophesy can be given that one will become a great worshipper, a prophet, a pastor, or one will be involved in taking care of the widows, orphans, the needy and such like. The individual with the guidance of the pastor should take up such prophecy, pray and align themselves to serving along that line.

Another problem of today’s church featuring in this dream is the omission of eschatology (The study of the end times — the end of the world, the second coming of Christ, the Apocalypse or the Last Judgment). The believers are ignorant of the fact that Jesus is coming soon. The reason he features as a soldier in the dream is because Jesus is coming back as a man of war, to fight and judge the devil, his demons and the rebellious people. They have also not been taught the signs of the end times, the issues of antichrist, the false prophet and such characteristics of the last days that we are living in. That’s why the Holy Spirit is releasing these revelations so that the church, pastors, teachers of the Word and prophets, can take up the matter and teach these things.

During the time of Daniel, the end times were far, and that’s why he was told to seal that prophecy of the end times.

9 And he said, “Go your way, Daniel, for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.

(Daniel 12:9 NKJV Bible)

On the other hand, John, in the book of Revelation, was told not to seal the prophesy for the end time was near.

10 And he said to me, “Do not seal the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is at hand.

(Revelation 22:10 NKJV Bible)

Daniel prophesied that during these last days, the Holy Spirit will cause the upright to understand the times, the happenings and the signs in relation to the end times prophesy in the scriptures and such people were required to instruct the others. That’s why Jesus is worried to see a church that is ignorant of his second coming.

33 And those of the people who understand shall instruct many; yet for many days they shall fall by sword and flame, by captivity and plundering.

(Daniel 11:33 NKJV Bible)

The Holy Spirit is ardently raising servants who should understand these things and teach them to the rest. That’s why in the dream I am able to see Jesus and feel the church should know. Those who get revelations like these ones should fervently inform the church. Being near the gate also symbolized my being near entering the kingdom of God, which I did few months later. When I got born again, the Holy Spirit reminded me of these revelations and required I tell the church, which I am still doing. I thank God for this space where I can write these things so as to reach many more in the world, because the four walls of a church and the limited time of service may not allow all this information to be communicated. I therefore urge you my reader that you relay this information to as many people as possible and God will bless you.

God wants you to ask. He really does. But there are some conditions He gives in order to answer your requests. In John chapters 14-16 we find a number of these conditions.
We need to remember that these are Jesus’ last hours with the disciples; and He wants them to understand how prayer really works. Over and over He emphasizes the need to ask, but His answers will be based on three conditions.

First, in John 14:13, Jesus says your request must glorify God,
“And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.”
Second, in John 15:7,

He says your request must be consistent and in harmony with His Word,
“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.”
And finally, in John 16:23-24, Jesus sets the condition that your request bring you joy,
“And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.”

Over and over, Jesus commands you to ask. But when you ask, make sure your request will glorify God, that it is consistent with His Word, and that it will bring you joy.

Jesus Christ is coming back soon

When I was sixteen years old, in 1993, I had a visitation in form of a dream. I wasn’t born again and though I experienced dreams, which I never bothered about, this particular one was so extraordinary that it couldn’t escape my notice.

In the dream, I was standing outside our main house, looking at the ridge across, known as local 18. I could see many people dressed in different color clothes, singing gospel songs happily and all of them looking up the sky. I moved my eyes up and saw what they were looking at. A white cloud was coming down and inside the cloud was Jesus. I woke up at this point.

This dream plus other four on the end times moved me to think seriously about salvation, which eventually I received. After accepting Christ is the time I reflected on these revelations and understood their meaning.

This dream can be interpreted as showing that the rapture of the church is real. Jesus Christ is coming back soon to take away the church.
16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.

(1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 NKJV Bible)

Since I was a Catholic, I hadn’t surrendered my life to Christ and that is why I was in a range, far and across where the church was receiving the Lord Jesus. Just as there was a great chasm between the biblical rich man and Lazarus, so is the gap between those in the kingdom of God here on earth and those who have not given their lives to Christ, viewed from a spiritual perspective.
26 And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us.

(Luke 16:26 NKJV Bible)

The two kingdoms are definitely not on the same side. They are far apart. Upon receiving Christ as your savior, you move from the kingdom of the devil to the kingdom of God
39 But Jesus said, “Do not forbid him, for no one who works a miracle in My name can soon afterward speak evil of Me. 40 For he who is not against us is on our side.

(Mark 9:39 NKJV Bible)

It’s also good to note that the kingdom of God is also on the earth. When the believer receives Christ, He comes in to his or her heart together with the Father and the Holy Spirit, for the Holy Trinity does not operate in isolation, they work together in unity.
Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works. 11 Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves.

(John 14:9 NKJV Bible)

While here on this earth, we are the temple of God
16 Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? 17 If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.

(1 Corinthians 3:16-17

NKJV Bible)

Paul urges the Corinthians not to be yoked with unbelievers but be separate (2 Corinthians 6:16-17)

There are only two kingdoms in existence; the Kingdom of God and that of the devil. Upon receiving Christ, the believer is required to surrender to the sanctification by the Holy Spirit so as to be fully separated from the evil of the previous kingdom where he or she dwelt when he was an unbeliever.

When all this cleansing work of the Holy Spirit is completed, Christ will rupture the church and after judgment, God will create a new heaven and a new earth. God will be our temple in the new earth as we shall be holy like Him,
17 “For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth;
And the former shall not be remembered or come to mind.

(Isaiah 65:17)
22 “For as the new heavens and the new earth
Which I will make shall remain before Me,” says the Lord,
“So shall your descendants and your name remain.
Isaiah 66:22
13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

2 Peter 3:13
Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea.

(Revelations 21:1 NKJV Bible)

Therefore on this earth, we house God who consecrates us through His Spirit, and when we get fully righteous, God will house us. In Revelation 21:22-27 , the Glory of the New Jerusalem is described,
22 But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. 23 The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light. 24 And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it. 25 Its gates shall not be shut at all by day (there shall be no night there). 26 And they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it. 27 But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.

(Revelation 21:22-27 NKJV Bible)

When you accept Christ, your name is also erased from the book of death and written in the book of life.
And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books.

(Revelation 20:12 NKJV Bible)

In the above dream, though I wasn’t saved, I was able to see Jesus descending, but I couldn’t participate in that glorious event. When Christ comes back in the air, all will see Him but only the righteous will go with Him.
For as the lightning that flashes out of one part under heaven shines to the other part under heaven, so also the Son of Man will be in His day.

(Luke 17:24 NKJV Bible)

Let us therefore accept Christ, allow the Holy Spirit to consecrate us, do the work God called us to do, and when He comes, we shall be bold to meet Him in the air. Amen.

Your Calling and the Spirit of Anti Christ

When I was sixteen years old, in 1993, I had 4 visitations in form of dreams. I wasn’t born again and though I experienced dreams, which I never bothered about, these particular ones were so extraordinary that they couldn’t escape my notice. I have described the first three in different articles but here I will describe the fourth one.

In the dream,it was twilight and my sisters and I were skipping the rope outside our house. My father and Mr Ndung’u(Not his real name), my primary school deputy, were sitting, reading a newspaper, when my father called me to tell them the meaning of a certain difficult word they had come across. As I went, I suddenly saw the heaven open and a very black face of a man emerge. The man beckoned at me that I go to him. I got deceived that it was Jesus, and felt that is the reason that I should go to him instead of going to my dad because Jesus is greater than my dad. To reach him in the sky, I decided to jump into a maize plantation that was near, but unfortunately I got devoured by a beast that was lurking there. Then the dream ended.

My father calling me to explain the meaning of the word represents how God calls us to a definite purpose that entails solely to solve a problem in the society of God’s kingdom. My calling is particularly to teach the Word of God, like I am doing in the press( Word press), represented by the newspaper that my father and Mr Ndung’u were reading.

Many Christians have a great calling but they can’t hear God’s voice until they humble and accept salvation. Skipping the rope here is a form of child play. Many Christians are playing or engaging in things that are immaterial to the growth of the kingdom of God. They are busy running after wealth and fame( don’t get me wrong; wealth and fame is good when it glorifies God). They are wasting precious time that should rather be spent on investing in the eternal things of God.

Upon receiving Christ, many believers hear and answer to the call of God, but again, the enemy is not asleep. The black face that I thought was Christ in the dream represents the Antichrist, who diverts the destiny and calling of believers; who consequently cannot fulfill the purpose of God upon their lives.

18 Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many Antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour.

.(1 John 2:18 NKJV Bible)

The Antichrist is also described as a beast in the bible. Just like I jumped to reach the person beckoning to me in the sky and ended up being swallowed by some animal in the maize plantation, so do the believers fall prey to the spirit of the Antichrist that entice them towards the wrong direction, therefore they get frustrated and eventually devoured by the world.

And as he sowed, some fell by the wayside; and it was trampled down, and the birds of the air devoured it.

(Luke 8:5) NKJV Bible

The Word of God gives us the direction of His calling but the devil snatches the word from us so that we will never know the purpose of God upon our lives.

8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

(1 Peter 5:8) NKJV Bible

The believer is thus been called upon to be vigilant in reading the Word of God, prayers, fasting, fellow-shipping with the body of Christ, worshiping God, committing to the work of God and engaging the whole armor of God and other spiritual weapons in spiritual warfare, so as to counter the enemy and emerge victorious.

His tail drew a third of the stars of heaven and threw them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was ready to give birth, to devour her Child as soon as it was born.

(Revelation 12:4 NKJV Bible)

The devil traces our great bright star and destroys it before we can get established and prosper. But I thank God because He is faithful such that if we are committed to dwell in His presence, He is sure to protect us. Read Psalms 91. All things, including the devil and his high demons, the Antichrist and the false prophet, were created by God, who has power above them all.

16 “Behold, I have created the blacksmit Who blows the coals in the fire, Who brings forth an instrument for his work And I have created the spoiler to destroy.
17 No weapon formed against you shall prosper And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord And their righteousness is from Me, Says the Lord.

( Isaiah 54:16-17). NKJV Bible

These are the last days; evil times when the deceiver, the Antichrist and the false prophet are roaming around the world, with false teaching and prophesy such that a Christian that is not deeply rooted in the Word of God can’t escape them. It is thus important to grow in the Word of God for one to be able to discern any false teaching.

The bible warns of the great apostasy( falling away from the true faith) that would overshadow the world in these last days:

4 Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, 2 speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, 3 forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. 4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; 5 for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
( 1 Timothy 4:1-5). NKJV Bible

The Holy Spirit, our helper and companion is faithful to protect us through divine revelations and teaching us the true faith if we care to listen to Him.

However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. 14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. 15 All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.
( John 16:13-15)

These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

( John 16:33). NKJV Bible

Jesus here encourages us not to fear for we have victory in him who already overcame. Dear brethren, receive victory in Christ Jesus. If you haven’t yet received Jesus as your savior, please do, for these are evil times. God bless you.

God will give you a Sign

Many are times when we go struggling in the darkness of life without knowing what God wants with us. However, God wants us to follow His sure path and will therefore always give us a sign that will direct us to His will.

For instance, He gave John the Baptist a sign so that he would know Christ. When the sign came, John was able to recognize Jesus.
33 I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘Upon whom you see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’ 34 And I have seen and testified that this is the Son of God.”

(John 1:33-34 NKJV)

It was a difficult task to know Jesus because, unlike John the Baptist, He wasn’t shouting His identity. John’s disciples had to cling to John for them to find the Messiah, and when they did, they became very excited and not only followed Him but also invited others to Jesus.
35 Again, the next day, John stood with two of his disciples. 36 And looking at Jesus as He walked, he said, “Behold the Lamb of God!”
37 The two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.

(John 1:35-37)
40 One of the two who heard John speak, and followed Him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother. 41 He first found his own brother Simon, and said to him, “We have found the Messiah” (which is translated, the Christ). 42 And he brought him to Jesus.

(John 1:40-42)
45 Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found Him of whom Moses in the law, and also the prophets, wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, son of Joseph.”

(John 1:45 NKJV)

These disciples of Jesus were predestined to introduce Jesus to the world and we see them executing that calling immediately they recognize the messiah. It feels good when we are able to recognize the will of God upon our lives. This is the only way we can fulfill our calling in this life, which comprises the reason God created us. To achieve this, it requires a thorough search, waiting, listening, meditation, observation and seeking confirmation of what we establish.
11 He answered and said to them, “Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given.

(Matthew 13:11 NKJV)

God uses signs that He shows me in dreams or visions so that when I see them in situations that come into my life I get to understand what God is doing.

One instance that God gave me a sign is taking my son to a boarding school. There before, I disliked boarding school because of the experience I had in my first year of high school. I had schooled in a day primary school and therefore, when I joined a boarding high school, I suffered a lot of homesickness such that at one time, I had thoughts of jumping over the fence and going home, which fortunately I did not implement.

Consequently, I imprinted on my son that boarding school was bad, which he also believed. But then, one time we relocated to the city and I was doing my masters course. I thus enrolled my son in a day school but it turned out that my son experienced unhealthy pressure in that school until he complained every now and then against the school. I would try to encourage him to like the school to no avail.

One day, in a dream, God told me that I wasn’t paying attention to the woes of my son. I thus realized God wanted me to do something about it, though I didn’t know what. I thus prayed that God direct me on the solution. Sometime later, I saw in a dream, my son going back to the previous school he was in, and when he saw his former friends running and hugging him, he became so happy that he bid me farewell and ran happily with the friends into the classes.

This dream made me realize that my son would be comfortable in his former school, but could only board because it was now far from where we were staying. Moreover, though we had a tight bond, he would stop missing me upon seeing his friends. I thus thanked God, prayed for provision and my son gladly accepted to go back to the former school. He improved academically and had favor with the pupils, teachers and support staff. His life was finally filled with happiness.

In short, that experience and guidance by God made me change my mentality about boarding schools, and hence took my son towards the right direction.

I have described other similar situations in my consecutive articles which I invite you to read, and also challenge you to be keen and perceive the signs God brings to you; and when you follow them, you will be sure to live according to the will of God. God bless you.

It was the year 2009 when I received the salvation of Jesus Christ. Immediately, God through His prophet informed me that He would be communicating to me through dreams. He further instructed me to be writing those dreams which I do diligently. The dreams began immediately and every night I get at least two.  Every time I get a dream, I usually pray against any evil the devil could be devising as featured in the dream and I also thank God for any good events featured and pray that God execute them. In addition, I pray for its interpretation which sometimes I get immediately but other times later. Through the dreams I am able to know what God wants with my life, my family, the church and the nation. Sometimes I am required to give messages to a person ranging from servants of God, colleagues at work, my immediate family members and sometimes leaders of institutions, for example, schools.

Many people dismiss the dreams they get or don’t bother to meditate on them or remember what they dreamt.  My experience with the Lord concerning dreams gives me a different perspective. In fact the Word of God is very clear on this mode of divine communication:

28 “And it shall come to pass afterward

That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;

Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

Your old men shall dream dreams,

Your young men shall see visions.

29 And also on My menservants and on My maidservants

I will pour out My Spirit in those days.

(Joel 2:28 NKJV)

From the scripture above, it’s clear that God planned to communicate with the church through various methods because it pleases God to let humans know His mind for we are God’s family.

In the bible, God is featured as speaking  to numerous people through dreams such as Abimelech (Genesis 20:3), Jacob( Genesis 28:12), Laban (Genesis 31:24), Joseph,( Genesis 37:5), Pharaoh (Genesis 41:1) etcetera, both in the new and the old testament. In fact, there is a time I saw in a dream, Joseph’s bones flowing through river Nile to Lake Victoria; an indication that just as Joseph instructed his brothers to carry his bones from Egypt to Canaan so that they wouldn’t be buried in captivity, the dream anointing Joseph had is flowing freely and has reached many places, still alive and carrying the great revival it carried during his time, just as God promised through Prophet Joel. Bones, spiritually speaking, continue holding the power of the ministry the person had like in the case of Elisha, whose bones raised a dead person.

20 Then Elisha died, and they buried him. And the raiding bands from Moab invaded the land in the spring of the year. 21 So it was, as they were burying a man, that suddenly they spied a band of raiders; and they put the man in the tomb of Elisha; and when the man was let down and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived and stood on his feet.

(2 King 13:20-21 NKJV).

In short, God has always willed to communicate with man about His intentions or warn humans of an approaching calamity so that they seek His divine intervention or change their ways and live right with Him.

I am God, and there is none like Me,

10 Declaring the end from the beginning,

And from ancient times things that are not yet done,

(Isaiah 46:9b-10 NKJV)

My articles carry several dreams I have had through the journey of salvation, and even before, and the meaning God has helped me with. The main purpose of this work is to edify the church of Christ, both the believers and those that will later hear the Word of God and believe.

As you read, my prayer is that the Holy Spirit will give you an understanding that will direct you appropriately to His paths of righteousness. God bless you as you read

Dealing with Delay.

In this era of instant happenings and fast world, delay can be frustrating.  In the current normal we have to cue and wait our turn in the mall while maintaining the required social distance.  As we waited for our turn to get in the groceries store and shop today, I thought of how sometimes all that is needed in our spiritual walk is patience.

Abraham and Sarah had received a promise, but the waiting appeared too long. In their rush to make the promise come true, they deviced a scheme which was outside God’s plan.

Their scheming caused unnecessary problems and pains. King Saul was another one who due to late arrival of Samuel the prophet decided he can do it all. A foolish act that angered God and His prophet.

There are many scenarios we can quote of people who found delay frustrating and they acted out of that frustration foolishly. I am sure you can relate too.

Since our time and God’s time is not measured the same, how can we deal with delay constructively?

Now he waited seven days, according to the appointed time set by Samuel, but Samuel did not come to Gilgal; and the people were scattering from him. So Saul said, “Bring to me the burnt offering and the peace offerings.” And he offered the burnt offering. As soon as he finished offering the burnt offering, behold, Samuel came; and Saul went out to meet him and to greet him.

1 Samuel 13:11-12
But Samuel said, “What have you done?” And Saul said, “Because I saw that the people were scattering from me, and that you did not come within the appointed days, and that the Philistines were assembling at Michmash, therefore I said, ‘Now the Philistines will come down against me at Gilgal, and I have not asked the favor of the Lord.’ So I forced myself and offered the burnt offering.”

2 Corinthians 6:2

for He says,
“At the acceptable time I listened to you,
And on the day of salvation I helped you.”
Behold, now is “the acceptable time,” behold, now is “the day of salvation”

Fulfill all Righteousness

When Jesus went to Jordan to be baptized, John was hestitant. But Jesus convinced him of the necessity and he complied.

Then Jesus arrived from Galilee at the Jordan coming to John, to be baptized by him. But John tried to prevent Him, saying, “I have need to be baptized by You, and do You come to me?” But Jesus answering said to him, “Permit it at this time; for in this way it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he permitted Him. (NASB) Matthew 3:13-15

The baptism of John signified repentance.Water baptism by immersion symbolizes our identity in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, in order that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. (NASB) Romans 6:3-4

It is our mandated obligation to make disciples all over the world through sharing the good news of Jesus Christ and baptizing them that believe.

Go therefore and  make disciples of  all the nations,  baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit . . . Matthew 28:19 (NASB

In my few years of ministry, by the grace of God, I have not only led people to Christ but also had the opportunity to baptize them. I recently preached about Phillip and how He witnessed to the Ethiopian eunuch. When the Ethiopian saw a pool of water, He requested to be baptized. Phillip baptized him, and He was filled with great joy. Acts 8: 39 And when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord carried Philip away, and the eunuch saw him no more and went on his way rejoicing.

There is so much joy that comes from fulfilling all righteousness. I remember when I was baptized with nostalgia. I had faithfully attended discipleship classes for two years. Every time there was baptism, I was told I was too young to be baptized. In that span of two years, the church had conducted eight baptisms. These occurred after three months of vigorous discipleship classes. I attended each session with the hope that, eventually, I will be allowed to partake that essential practice in my new found faith. By the way, this happened when I was between the age of 9-10 years. By the time I turned 11years, the pastor in charge had made me a promise, ” If your parents consent to your baptism, we will not hold you off again, I promise.”

Ooh, the joy that filled my tender heart was unspeakable. I decided to fast and pray before asking my parents to consent. I wanted to be baptized so strongly with every fiber within. I skipped lunch for a whole week and attended lunch hour services to pray, precisely that God will soften my Mum and Dad’s hearts. I look back and am encouraged by how God answered those prayers. Every answered prayer increased my faith and passion for God. On Sunday after the discipleship classes, I made my request, and to my surprise, they agreed. My parents’ response was, ” if the pastors agree to baptize you this year, we have no objection.” I could not wait for Sunday to share my good news with the pastor, so the next day after school, I attended the evening service with the sole purpose of informing Him to write my name on the list.

Months went by, and eventually, the D day was here. My brother Patrick teased me a lot the previous night. The baptism was to happen in the Chania River in Thika. He talked of how if I harbored any sins, the hippos and crocodiles would feast on me. The fear and panic caused me to spend the night on my knees in prayers. I repented every known, and unknown sins sanctified myself by the blood of Jesus and surrendered fully to the will of God. In the morning, I was relaxed and calm as we headed to the river.

My turn came, and I confidently walked into the water, a big smile plastered my face, I was ready to partake in this essential practice in my faith. Something supernatural happened, I tend to attribute it to either the coldness of the water or the divine favor of God. I remember going into the water, and my eyes opened, and I witnessed a magnificent sighting. I saw angels dressed in white apparel and carrying silver, gold, and bronze packages. One by one they gave me the gifts, I counted nine gifts all wrapped, but I came to before I unwrapped any of them. When I came to, I was speaking in tongues, and my mum was helping me change in the changing tent. I tried speaking in ordinary language, but I could not stop myself. When she saw the concern written on my face, she held me and prayed with me in tongues, too, explaining to me that I have not only been baptized with water but with the holy spirit also.

Years later, As I serve the Lord it gives me so much joy to see new believers make that decision. Like that Ethiopian Eunuch as long as there is water nothing should hinder one from being baptized. We have held baptism in pools, streams, rivers and lakes.

As I write this my purpose is to ignite someone’s first love . The passion, the zeal, and the due dilligence we had when we first believed. The desire to follow and fulfill the precepts, the teachings and the statues of the kingdom. May that first love be reactivated in your life in Jesus name.

Psalms 121

Psalm 121
A song of ascents.
I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip—
    he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel
    will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord watches over you—
    the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
    nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all harm—
    he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going
    both now and forevermore.

The Lord Is Our Keeper. Be encouraged to continue trusting in Him.
