Birthday Traditions
Today is my Birthday! Yeah! I was born on 10th March. I won’t tell you the year but feel free to guess. People acknowledge their birthdays in diverse ways. Some throw parties, others treat themselves or a treated to something nice and affordable. While others literally forget their birthday. No matter how you handle your birthday it is an important day. It marks your grand entrance into the world.

In our family, my parents made a big fuss on our birthdays until one reached ten years old. Being the second born in a family of six siblings, I got to celebrate more of their birthdays than they celebrated mine. For instance by the time I was ten years old our last born was almost three years.
Eventually, the only birthday we all celebrated was our youngest brother.
For the Last fifteen years, I have developed a personal birthday tradition which marks the entrance of a new year. I may not share the in and outs of that tradition, but just know that part of it involves praying specific prayers over my life.
Part of this specific prayer was derived from the need to be successful in fulfilling all my God given assignments.
My main purpose of sharing this with you is that you will join me in prayer. As you pray for me please remember to pray for yourself too.
In this day and age we all need wisdom.
Wisdom
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
For through wisdom your days will be many, and years will be added to your life.
Proverbs 9:10-11 NIV
As I celebrate another year, I have specifically asked God to increase wisdom in me.
There is a promise of added years through wisdom.
Wisdom to deal with all areas and aspects of my life.
My family, my friends, my foes, I need wisdom.
My purposes, my plans, my pursuits, I need wisdom.
My character, my charisma, my concerns, I need wisdom.
But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.
James 3:17 NIV
The wisdom I desire is not to show off-: how wise I am. But this one from heaven that is;
pure,
peace-loving,
considerate,
submissive,
full of mercy,
good fruit,
impartial
Sincere.
Yet you desired faithfulness even in the womb; you taught me wisdom in that secret place.
Psalms 51:6 NIV
In that secret place may I tarry and abide. Yearning and longing to learn from you. In that secret place may you teach me wisdom. Amen.
