Christmas Traditions
A Merry Christmas to you all my
friends is what I wish you. I am grateful for the gift of love and family. Christmas season has always been a special day to me from my childhood. My parents traditionally bought us a new outfit every Christmas for as long as I can remember. On the Christmas eve we would all try on our new clothes to ensure they fit. On Christmas Morning, dressed up and jubilant we would attend the Christmas Service. After church we would head home prepared to eat all kinds of delicacies and food prepared by our mum.
I remember one Christmas that my mum invited the street kids to our house. This time they had bought clothes of different sizes and the street kids showered in our house got a change of clothes and joined us for the Christmas party. We had so much fun playing in the compound with these kids. I remember pausing, looking around and noting that the street kids are just like us. Before that I always feared them and made sure that I avoid being close to them when we went to the market.
Unfortunately after Christmas they had to go back to the streets but my parents assured them that they can always come over on Saturdays to shower and have meals with us.It became our new tradition.
That Christmas changed my perspective.
What is your Christmas tradition? Do you have memories you can share?

Pastor Lucy, the ministry of children, has been in your hear and I can see your parents had some input in that. It was not common to see able families calling street children to their own homes. I salute your parents for doing that and I saluted you for remembering that act of kindness you and your family in Kenya showed the street children.
May the Lord bless you.
Amen
